Video art created for dome projection, 2019
Silence was inspired by my fascination with the quiet yet powerful beauty of the northern landscape. Filmed above wintertime Vyborg with a Mavic Pro 2 drone, the project captures the vast, silent views of the North, where landscapes seen from above turn into abstract, graphic forms. It invites viewers into a shared meditative silence, creating a sense of connection with nature.
The work was designed for two formats: vertical screen and dome projection. In the dome version, the experience became more immersive and intense: an enormous surrounding space filled with the sounds and stillness of winter. With the earth projected overhead, viewers felt as if the sky had been inverted — standing below, yet seeing from above. This shift of perspective made the power and mystery of nature feel even stronger.
The vertical screen version offered a quieter, more intimate encounter with the northern landscape, allowing it to speak in softer, more reflective tones.
