The installation is a multi-layered narrative system that integrates VR panoramas, interactive soundscapes, synchronized data streams, and Leap Motion technology. This setup allowed users to interact with the virtual environment using natural hand movements — eliminating the need for controllers.
Developed in 2016, long before universal systems like Meta Quest III or Apple Vision became standard, this approach positioned the project as a pioneer in exploring intuitive, gesture-based interactions in VR.
Built using the WebGL library, the VR experience enables users to explore the abandoned forts in stunning detail, immersing themselves in their hauntingly atmospheric decay.
At the same time, observers can engage from an external perspective, following the interactor’s journey on two monitors: one featuring archival materials and the other displaying geotagged images sourced from the web, both directly tied to the explored VR locations.
